Update May 11th 2019
Withybed Moorings Ltd has now been operational since 3rd September 2018 and is being received positively with customers taking adavantage of the facility with short and long stay moorings.
We are now securely gated at our car park entrance with an automated gate, we are still awaiting confirmation of a license to sell diesel from HMRC controlled oils whilst all the retail facilities are in place to go forward.
The stock fences are being put in place around the base of the hillside to enable the grazing animals to assist in the vegetation control (and produce some of our wonderful Lamb & Mutton and Pasture fed Beef seasonally available from our pop up farm shop.
Going forward we have plans to install a footbridge across our internal canal side entrance structure to enable a quicker walking route around the site and will be constructing a barbecue area for customers use.
Update August 8th 2018
Opposite bank works are now complete and we are waiting for CRT to sign this off and enable us to complete our Network Access agreement.
We have bookings for boats arriving in early September so anxious times!
Update June 23rd 2018
We have endured timing setbacks over the last few months mainly due to the very wet Spring and thus the knock on effect on work programmes.
GJP made a fantastic job of the second phase of the construction including piles,pontoons and services and now we have completed pathways and drainage works the "site" is looking great and continues to receive many compliments.
Currently we are waiting for opposite bank protection to be installed at our entrance structure before our Network access agreeement is finalised with CRT.
Our new power supply is waiting to have a CT meter installed and then we shall be "illuminated under the hours of darkness"
Our new facilities block containing showers,toilet and laundry is complete with the aid of funding from "Worcestershire County Council "Leader" - Rural Development Programme for England.
Landscaping is almost complete with surface wearing course to be placed on the car park and access track.
We anticipate opening late July, early August subject to CRT and the NAA being finalised.
Our Earthworks contractors Hawk completed their work at the end of September. It has been a fantastic achievement involving moving a hillside of over 200,000 tonnes of earth and remodelling the arisings on site.The result is we have a superb backdrop of hillsides around the basin.We will be seeding the hillsides with wildflowers which over the coming years will give us an array of colour at flowering time.
GJP construction are now installing piles,pontoons and services to the facility.
Water has been ordered from CRT for early December for filling the basin which then will lead onto the 2 week stilling test which when passed will allow us to remove the 6m plug of earth from our entrance structure and make the connection to the navigation in readiness for opening for business by Easter 2017
